Preparatory Program
This program focuses on the fundamentals of the Chinese language and intensively improves students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through small-class teaching. It aims to equip students with basic Chinese language skills and communication abilities they need to live in China, study related programs at university and pass the Chinese Proficiency Test (which is Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi in Chinese Pinyin, abbreviated as HSK).
Undergraduate Programs
I. International Economics and Trade
International Economics and Trade is a national first-class program, and has 12 full-time faculty members, including 3 professors, 4 associate professors, and 6 teachers with a doctorate. This program enables students to acquire the basic knowledge, quality and skills for modern business activities, and on this basis, to integrate professional knowledge and skills courses in logistics, to master the basic knowledge and skills of international trade, to understand the current development situation of contemporary international economy and trade, to be familiar with prevailing international trade rules and practices as well as China's foreign trade policies and regulations, and to understand the socioeconomic conditions of major countries and regions. Relying on the "Belt and Road Initiative" practice bases such as Sino-Kazakhstan Logistics Park, SCO (Lianyungang) International Logistics Park, and Port Circulation Service Industry College and the advantages of system innovation in Lianyungang Area of China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone, this program strengthens the integration of theory and practice to train students into high-level, application-oriented, versatile talents who can engage in foreign trade and economic business, international settlement, logistics business management and foreign trade and economic management in foreign trade and economic enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises, foreign trade production enterprises, ports, circulation enterprises, financial institutions, etc.
II. Pharmaceutical Engineering
Pharmaceutical Engineering is a featured program of Jiangsu Province and a key program of Jiangsu Province, and was approved as a national first-class undergraduate program in 2022. This program has 23 full-time faculty members, including 12 with senior titles, 4 with associate titles and 7 lecturers, and it also employs 10 part-time teachers from enterprises. Relying on the regional advantageous pharmaceutical industry, this program cultivates application-oriented engineering technical talents who are able to analyze and solve complex pharmaceutical engineering problems, have international vision, and innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, can engage in product development and research, engineering design and project management, production operation and quality control in pharmaceutical and related industries, and adapt to the development of pharmaceutical and related industries.
III. Marine Technology
Marine Technology is a national featured program, a first-phase brand program of colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province, and a first-class program of Jiangsu Province. It has 10 full-time faculty members, including 8 doctors, 3 professors and 6 associate professors. With marine information processing technology as the main line, this program requires students to carry out learning and research by focusing on marine survey and observation technology, marine surveying and digital marine engineering development, to master basic marine knowledge and laws, and to accept new marine technology. Through this program, students can learn and understand the basic theories and knowledge in marine science and management, master the knowledge of marine survey and observation technology, marine surveying and digital marine engineering development, and have the ability of engineering practice. This program aims to cultivate excellent professional technical talents who can engage in marine information-related application technology development, production and management in the fields of sea area use management and marine environment monitoring, marine information management and service, and marine engineering, etc.
IV. Food Science and Engineering
Food Science and Engineering is one of the key programs offered at the University's inception, which was approved as a university-level featured program in 2008, passed accreditation by China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA) in 2021, and was selected as a national first-class undergraduate program in 2022. This program is authorized to award master's degrees in two disciplines of Food Processing & Safety and Food Engineering, and is a key sea-related program of the University. At present, this program has 38 full-time faculty members, including 7 professors, 57.9% with senior titles, 76.3% with a doctorate, and 100% with a master's degree or above. By combining science and technology, this program covers the basic theory and basic experimental methods in terms of food science research and product development, engineering design and production technology management, etc.; it involves the first, second and third industries, including food raw material production, processing, distribution, sales and service, etc. In accordance with the advanced education concept of "student-centered, result-oriented, and continuous improvement", this program cultivates application-oriented, versatile engineering talents who can engage in production technology management, quality control, product development, technical service, and engineering design in food, marine biological resources utilization and related industries.
Master’s Degree Programs
I. International Business
International Business studies the laws and practices of international business activities such as international trade, international investment, and multinational enterprise operation, relates closely to international economics and trade, international finance, business administration and logistics management, and has the characteristics of typical interdisciplinary programs. In terms of cultivation of master degree students, this program requires equal emphasis on theoretical study and off-campus practice teaching, emphasizes the use of advanced teaching concepts and methods such as team learning, case studies and field survey, and focuses on the development of macroscopic thinking, expanded application of economic theory and operational skills in international business relations. This program has formed a faculty with high teaching and research levels and a reasonable age structure during the long-term teaching and research practice, has been engaged in theoretical and applied research of international business and its related disciplines for a long time, and has achieved a series of high-quality research results in import and export trade, regional economic cooperation, international direct investment and international logistics management. Currently, this program has 22 instructors, including 11 professors, 5 associate professors and 19 teachers with a doctorate, and has employed 8 part-time instructors from enterprises and institutions. This program cultivates high-level, application-oriented, versatile talents in modern international business with good professional ethics and sense of social responsibility, international vision, knowledge of basic theories of modern international business and professional skills in international business, equipped with strong cross-cultural communication skills and international business decision-making ability, competent in international trade, international investment and financing, international business operation and international enterprise management in foreign-related enterprises, financial institutions, government departments, etc., and with the ability of management execution, information processing, innovation and entrepreneurship.
II. Resources and Environment (Surveying and Mapping Engineering)
Resource and Environment (Surveying and Mapping Engineering) is an engineering field that studies the acquisition, measurement, processing, representation, management, analysis, updating and application of information related to the spatial distribution of the earth and other entities, covering the disciplines of geodesy and surveying engineering, photogrammetry and remote sensing, and cartography and geographic information engineering. This field mainly provides engineering technology and management services for ecological environmental protection, resource development, earth science research, urban construction, disaster prevention and mitigation, land resource investigation and utilization, regional environmental protection and ecological reconstruction, etc., and covers such industries as marine, mapping, survey, geology and mining, planning, construction, transportation, agriculture and forestry, water conservancy, electric power, municipal engineering, national defense, etc. This field cultivates high-level, application-oriented, versatile talents in engineering technology and engineering management with solid foundation, comprehensive quality and strong engineering practice ability in marine science, geophysics, civil engineering, water conservancy engineering, traffic engineering, geology, electronic science and technology, geography, environmental science and engineering, computer science and technology, management science and engineering, who can undertake professional technical or management work and have good innovative spirit and professionalism.
III. Pharmacy
"Pharmacy" is a key discipline of Jiangsu Province in the 13th and 14th Five-Year Plan periods. Oriented to the innovative development needs of the regional pharmaceutical industry, "pharmacy" integrates chemical and biological pharmaceuticals, develops the characteristics of marine drugs, and focuses on the research of new technologies and methods such as targeted drug screening, drug synthesis and green manufacturing, and drug quality management and control. This discipline has strong faculty, rich international background, and abundant teaching resources such as provincial key laboratories and professional internship and practice bases. It has a faculty with a reasonable age structure, academic affiliation structure, title structure and educational attainment structure. In the faculty, full-time teachers with senior titles account for nearly 60%, and more than 90% of teachers hold a doctorate. This discipline has scientific research platforms such as Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Marine Pharmaceutical Compound Screening and Jiangsu Marine Medicinal Resources Development Engineering Research Center, and has established industry-university-research comprehensive cooperation relations and talent training bases with many famous pharmaceutical companies such as Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, Chia Tai Tianqing, Hansoh Pharma, and Kanion Pharmaceutical. In line with the principles of "good character, solid foundation, matching knowledge and practice, emphasizing innovation and highlighting application", this discipline aims to cultivate high-level applied research talents who can adapt to modern pharmaceutical R&D, production, quality control and management, have strong technical innovation and practical problem-solving abilities, and are competent in professional technical or management work in research institutes, pharmaceutical inspection departments and enterprises through the collaboration between schools and enterprises.
IV. Food Processing and Safety
Food Processing and Safety is a field of degree education closely related to food production, processing and full-process quality & safety control. Relying on a batch of sea-related research platforms and industry-university-research platforms such as Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Marine Biological Resources and Environment, Jiangsu Marine Biological Resources Utilization and Quality & Safety Control Engineering Center, Jiangsu Coastal Aquatic Products Processing Research and Development Center, Jiangsu Institute of Marine Resources Development, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Marine Biotechnology, Public Technology Platform of Marine Biological Industry for Small and Medium Enterprises in Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Marine Biological Industry Collaborative Innovation Center Incubation Site, and Jiangsu Marine Biological Industry Technology Cooperation Alliance, this field focuses on developing maritime characteristics. This field has a team of teachers who understand the needs of society, have solid theoretical knowledge, rich teaching experience and strong practical ability. Now, there are 56 instructors in this field, including 21 professors (researchers), 23 associate professors (associate researchers) and 50 teachers with a doctorate, along with 51 part-time instructors from enterprises and public institutions. This field develops students' ability to solve practical problems in the field of agriculture, food production and safety management, and cultivates high-level, application-oriented versatile talents who can engage in production, development, quality & safety control, analysis and inspection and other technical and management work in enterprises, public institutions and management departments related to modern agriculture, food processing industry and safety management, etc.
